FAQs
How do I know if I need a new fuse board?
Some clear signs are a board with old-style fuses that use fuse wire, no test buttons on the front, frequent tripping, or a board that is simply very old. If you are not sure, we can take a look and let you know honestly whether an upgrade is worthwhile.
What is the difference between an RCD and an RCBO?
Both are safety switches that cut the power quickly if there is a fault, which helps protect against electric shock. An RCBO protects each circuit on its own, so a fault on one circuit will not switch off the others. Modern boards use these for better protection and less inconvenience.
How long does the work take?
Most upgrades are completed in a day, though we will confirm when we quote, as it depends on your circuits and what we find.
Will my power be off while you work?
The power needs to be off for part of the job. We will let you know the timings in advance so you can plan around it.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. You receive an Electrical Installation Certificate, which matters for safety, for your insurance, and if you come to sell your home.
